Cedars-Sinai Medical Center of Los Angeles

Cedars-Sinai sees dramatic improvement in communication among nurses, physicians and families.

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center of Los Angeles is one of the largest academic medical centers in the nation. The 958-bed clinical care and research center is consistently named one of America’s Best Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. It was only natural for this healthcare leader to deploy iPhones with the Voalte One solution to improve point-of-care communication.

Clinicians are now able to communicate with secure, two-way texting, dramatically increasing communication efficiency between inpatient nursing staff, physicians and families. Texting is used more than voice calls, and is expected to increase in frequency as Voalte expands throughout the entire medical center.

With the Voalte system in place, the ability to send and receive text messages drove fundamental changes in the way caregivers communicated. Using pre- and post-implementation studies, Frisbie Memorial showed that total communication time between doctors and nurses dropped 82 percent when it replaced pagers with smartphones.

Choosing the Voalte solution is in alignment with Cedar-Sinai’s dedication to incorporate state-of-the-art technology to increase efficiencies, improve patient safety and keep nurses and clinicians continuously connected throughout the hospital’s units.
